Empire Season 3

“Empire” premieres Wednesday night with an all new leader of the company, Hakeem Lyon (Bryshere Y. Gray).

Last season finished with Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) losing his company to an old rival, Camilla Marks (Naomi Campbell).

Camilla was last seen in Season 1 after Lucious offered her money to stay away from Hakeem, who is young enough to be her own child. She refused the offering, left town anyway, and broke little Hakeem’s heart.

Little did Hakeem know, she didn’t take his father’s money like the old man said. Little did Lucious know, Camilla would come back, stronger than ever to complete her task in grooming Hakeem into being the next big thing.

In the trailer for the second half of Season 2, Camilla offers Hakeem the CEO position at Empire. “It’s my birthright,” the young star tells her while taking the offer.

Lucious ran Camilla out of town because he was grooming Hakeem to be the next leader of Empire and he felt that she was standing in the way. Yet, he gave the throne to the middle child Jamal (Jussie Smollett).

Camilla went through all of this trouble to impress her precious Hakeem. What’s in it for her? Will they stay together?

In the last season, Hakeem told Anika Calhoun (Grace Gealey) that he was in love with another starlet; someone closer to his age. Her jealousy pushed her to great lengths and she was so hurt, she never revealed her pregnancy to him.

Is Hakeem still in love with rising star Laura Calleros (Jamila Velazquez)?

And what is going on with Anika’s love child? I don’t know how cunning Camilla is going to handle the news.

I can go on and on about the Lyons but for this season, we’ll focus on Hakeem, and the mommy role Camilla plays in his life.

“Empire” premieres on Wednesday March 30 on Fox at 9 p.m. EST.
